I've Been Robbed!
October 2004 Article

Help, I’ve been robbed! I’ve been robbed! The sad thing is people often don’t even realize it, but that is exactly what Satan is doing in a lot of our lives.

We believe the lies of: “If Only”. You know what I am talking about. The lies we tell ourselves. If only I had more money I would be more generous. (Lie!) If only I lived in a bigger house I’d be happier. (Lie!) If only he’d do this or if only she’d do that then I’d….(Lie!) If only ….blah, blah, blah! The list goes on and on and on. You know what? That is just where Satan wants us to be, in the: woe-is-me, self-pity-party-of- despair, with the down and out attitude. It is not your fault you are miserable. You are the victim. You are just a martyr. Unfortunately, we allow it! We allow Satan to rob us of our joy, self respect, dignity and self worth whenever we sell out and give into the ways of the world of instant gratification, poor morals, self defeating attitudes, selfishness, self centeredness and greed. Evidence you have been robbed of your joy in life is obvious with bitterness, anger, and hostility and corrupted morals and values. Sex, drugs, alcohol, clothes, jewelry, nothing is filling the void. Unfortunately not only is Satan a robber and a thief, but he is also a liar. Many of us who are sick and tired of feeling sick and tired believe Satan’s lie that we can’t turn away from our self righteous ego and pride and replace the emptiness with God’s forgiveness, grace, mercy and love; which in turn will fill us with fullness of joy.

Please don’t get me wrong; there are those who have psychological problems due to medical reasons, etc. and are clinically depressed and need professional medical help. I am not talking about these people. I am talking about people who deny the truth that we live in a spiritual world and wonder why they are so miserable? Could it be these people who deny spiritual, Biblical truths want to live their self-centered lives being greedy, feeding their heart, mind and spirit with negative music, TV, movies and negative people that pull their soul down and then not take responsibility for the state of mind they are in? If that is not living the lies of the liar and being spiritually robbed then tell me what is?

Why is it that there are some people who can go through the most devastating circumstances and yet in the midst of their despair still have more serenity, peace and harmony in their lives despite all the odds; while others who by American standards appear to have it all are still wallowing in their misery?

There is a new book out called “Comfort Food for Your Soul” by Harvest House Publishers that I wrote that shares the bitter flavors of my personal trials, turmoil, pitfalls and spiritual war fares I’ve had. I also share of the wonderful sweetness and smooth tasting comfort of God’s grace, mercy, healing power, forgiveness and love.

Almost 10 years ago when my loving husband was diagnosed with an aggressive brain cancer I believed God was going to use our most challenging situation to give himself praise and glory. I believe that is exactly what God is doing. We fought the cancer for 6-1/2 years while in financial bondage. Our home burned, and we endured countless other trials. I would still rather go through all of that torment having a personal relationship with God than to live as many without serenity, peace, love or joy because they are living without having a personal relationship with God.

At only $9.99 “Comfort Food for Your Soul” book is an excellent witnessing tool to encourage and inspire others to put God number one in a non-threatening way in their life. Each of the sixteen little chapters ends with a delicious home-style recipe and thought provoking questions to help us look at our own lives and the direction we are headed.
